A considered choice

right at home.
Outdoor planting in the UAE divides into two groups that behave nothing alike: plants that hold through the May-to-September peak — bougainvillea, desert rose, vinca, agave, oleander, date palm — and cool-season plants that run from October to April and finish in the heat, such as petunias, marigolds, herbs and tomatoes. Every plant here is rated for which it is, so you know what you are buying before you plant it.
A little more to know.
When is the UAE planting season?
October to April. The UAE calendar runs opposite to Europe and North America: the cool months are the growing season, when almost everything establishes, flowers and crops, while May to September is a survival period for all but heat-adapted species. Planting in October rather than spring roughly triples the useful life of the same plants.
Which outdoor plants survive 45°C in Dubai without shade?
Bougainvillea, desert rose, vinca, portulaca, agave, yucca, oleander, tecoma, frangipani and dwarf date palms all hold through unshaded UAE summer once established. The limiting factor is usually pot size and watering frequency rather than the species itself.
How often do outdoor plants need watering in a UAE summer?
Flowering shrubs and bedding plants typically need daily water from June to September, and twice daily in small pots in full sun. Desert-adapted plants such as agave, yucca and desert rose stretch to every five to ten days. Water early morning — midday water heats in the substrate and is largely lost to evaporation.
Can outdoor plants be delivered to my villa across the UAE?
Yes. Outdoor plants and trees are delivered across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, with the Northern Emirates limited to hardy species and hardgoods over the longer journey. Delivery is free on every order. Large trees and multi-plant hedge runs are quoted and scheduled directly — message us on WhatsApp with the planting area.
