Hopbush Hedge (Dodonaea viscosa) — 5 Plants makes a room feel alive.
Five dodonaea — narrow, slightly sticky leaves on an upright shrub that closes into a 2m screen faster than almost anything else that survives a Gulf summer unshaded. Papery pink seed capsules in autumn. Native-adjacent, deep-rooting, and once established it wants less water than the ficus hedge most people default to. Full sun, water every 2 days for the first month, then twice weekly.

In UAE homes: Closes into a 2m screen faster than almost anything that survives an unshaded Gulf summer, and asks for less water than the ficus hedge most people default to.
Watering figures are ranges, not schedules — pot size, light and the season shift them. Check the top 2-3cm of soil and water only when it is dry. From the UAE Plant Index.

Hopbush Hedge (Dodonaea viscosa) — 5 Plants: common questions
What is the fastest growing hedge for Dubai?
For an unshaded position, Dodonaea viscosa closes into a 2-metre screen faster than any other hedge plant we stock that survives a full Gulf summer, and it does it on less water than ficus. Ficus nitida is denser and darker, but it is thirstier and slower to establish.
How much hedge does a 5-plant dodonaea run cover?
Roughly 1.7 metres planted densely at three per running metre, which closes into a screen within about one growing season, or 2.5 metres at two per metre if you can wait two seasons. Measure the boundary first and order the run count from that.

Why buy from us
Grown for UAE homes, not just sold here.
Most plants sold in the UAE were grown outdoors, moved indoors, and handed over in a grow pot with no aftercare. We acclimatise ours to air-conditioned air first, pot them properly, insulate them against the drive, and stay on WhatsApp after the box is open.
