A considered choice
Find what feels
right at home.
Choose a planter 2–4cm wider than the plant's current nursery pot — much bigger and the extra wet soil rots the roots. Every pot page lists the nursery-pot sizes it takes, and the plant pages only offer pots that fit. Glazed ceramic is the choice indoors and on shaded terraces; for a full-sun balcony, fibreglass stays lighter and cooler.

What size pot should I buy for my plant?
Measure the diameter of the pot the plant is in now and add 2–4cm. Our planter sizes are listed in centimetres of internal diameter for exactly this reason. Going several sizes up at once is the most common repotting mistake: the unused soil stays wet and causes root rot.
Do you sell self-watering pots?
Not at the moment — our indoor range is matte white ceramic with a real drainage hole and a matching saucer. For the traveller problem a reservoir usually solves, pick a plant that wants to dry out anyway: snake plant and ZZ go two to three weeks between waterings and are happier in a draining pot than in a reservoir.
Do your planters have drainage holes?
Product pages state drainage per planter. Where a decorative planter has no drainage, keep the plant in its nursery pot inside it and lift it out to water — never let the plant sit in standing water, which is the fastest way to kill it indoors.
