Almost every houseplant that fails in the UAE fails for one of three reasons: it was put somewhere too dark, it was watered on a schedule instead of when the soil dried, or it sits directly under an air-conditioning vent. Get those right and the species matters far less than people expect — which is why this quiz asks about your room before it asks about your taste.
- How do I know which plant is right for my Dubai apartment?
- Start with light, not looks. Work out how much daylight the spot actually gets — direct sun, bright indirect, or shaded — then how often you will realistically water, and whether a cat or dog will chew the leaves. Those three answers rule out most of the catalogue; the quiz walks through them in five taps.
- What does the quiz match on?
- Light level, the size of the space, how much watering you want to commit to, and whether the plant has to be safe around pets. Recommendations use available catalogue stock when you open the quiz. Availability and final pricing are checked again at checkout.
- What if I get the light level wrong?
- It is the most common mistake, and it is fixable: a plant in too little light grows slowly and leggy rather than dying outright. Move it closer to a window before doing anything else. If it is still struggling after a few weeks, message us on WhatsApp with a photo and we will tell you what to change.
- Which plants are safest if I have a cat or a dog?
- Parlour palm, calathea, areca palm, Boston fern and spider plant are non-toxic to cats and dogs. Several of the most popular houseplants — pothos, monstera, ZZ, snake plant and peace lily — are not, so tell the quiz you have pets and it will keep them out of your results.
