The standard UAE privacy hedge is Ficus nitida — dense, evergreen, fast, and it takes hard clipping. Carissa (Natal plum) gives a lower, thorny, flowering hedge, and golden duranta a bright chartreuse border. Plant at roughly 50cm spacing: five plants cover about 2.5 metres.

What is the fastest-growing privacy hedge in the UAE?
Conocarpus (damas) is the fastest screening plant grown here, followed by Ficus nitida. Damas puts on height quickly but needs regular trimming; ficus is slower but denser and holds a formal clipped face better.
How many hedge plants do I need per metre?
Two plants per metre at 50cm spacing for a solid face within a season. Our hedge sets contain five plants, which covers roughly 2.5 metres. Closer spacing fills in faster but competes for water.
Will ficus roots damage my villa's paving or pipes?
Mature Ficus nitida has vigorous roots. Keep it at least 1.5–2 metres from paving, boundary walls and drainage runs, or plant it in a raised bed or large planter, which is why we sell the privacy kit with a planter included.
