The UAE's flowering season is the winter: annuals planted in October and November flower from November through March. Petunia, marigold, pansy, dianthus, alyssum and vinca are the standard bedding mix. They finish when temperatures rise in April — that is the normal life of an annual here, not a failure.
A little more to know.
When do you plant winter flowers in the UAE?
October and November. Nurseries and Dubai Municipality plant winter bedding from the first week of October, once night temperatures drop. Planting in September usually means losing the first batch to lingering heat.
How long do winter annuals last in Dubai?
Roughly November to March, about four to five months of continuous flowering with regular deadheading and a fortnightly feed. Vinca is the one that often carries on into May and June once the others have finished.
