Choosing Plants

What is the best large plant for a Dubai living room?

For bright indirect light, a monstera deliciosa or bird of paradise gives the biggest impact; a fiddle leaf fig needs the brightest, steadiest spot. For medium light, a rubber plant or areca palm; for low light or a pet household, a tall snake plant or bamboo palm. Pair it with a fibre planter 4–6cm wider than the nursery pot.

Match the plant to the window, not the mood board. South- or west-facing glass with sheer curtains: bird of paradise and fiddle leaf fig thrive. Bright but indirect: monstera is the most forgiving large plant and grows fast on a moss pole. Medium light away from windows: rubber plant and areca palm.

For low light or a home with cats and dogs, a tall snake plant in a fibre planter or a bamboo palm gives height without fuss. Browse the statement plants collection for sizes; the Statement Living Room set pairs a floor plant with companions.

Large plants dry out slowly in AC rooms, so water deeply but rarely, and keep them out of the vent stream. Use a planter with drainage or a nursery pot inside a cache pot, and turn the plant a quarter turn every week so it grows evenly toward the light.
