Safety: Toxic seeds and sap — vomiting and drowsiness in cats and dogs. See pet-safe alternatives.
In UAE homes: Wants the brightest spot in the apartment and will take a few hours of direct winter sun. Split leaves are normal and not damage — that is how the plant sheds wind load.
Watering figures are ranges, not schedules — pot size, light and the season shift them. Check the top 2-3cm of soil and water only when it is dry. From the UAE Plant Index.

Bird of Paradise - Large: common questions
Is this Strelitzia nicolai or Strelitzia reginae?
Strelitzia nicolai, the giant white bird of paradise: the tall floor plant with big paddle leaves that is sold as an indoor statement plant. Strelitzia reginae is the smaller, orange-flowered species you see in UAE landscaping beds, and it needs full sun outdoors to flower.
Can a bird of paradise live indoors in an air-conditioned apartment?
Yes, in the brightest spot you have — close to a large window, ideally one that gets some winter sun. It copes with average AC humidity, but keep it out of the direct vent stream and shade it from a west-facing window in June to September, which scorches the leaves. Split leaves are normal, not damage.

Why buy from us
Grown for UAE homes, not just sold here.
Most plants sold in the UAE were grown outdoors, moved indoors, and handed over in a grow pot with no aftercare. We acclimatise ours to air-conditioned air first, pot them properly, insulate them against the drive, and stay on WhatsApp after the box is open.
