# When and how often should I fertilise indoor plants in the UAE?

**Short answer:** Feed monthly at half the label strength during the active growing months, roughly October to May in air-conditioned UAE homes, and every 6–8 weeks or not at all during peak summer when growth slows. Water first, then feed damp soil. Do not fertilise a plant in its first month after delivery or one that is stressed or bone dry.

Indoor plants in the UAE grow most when light is strongest but rooms are comfortable, which in practice is autumn to late spring. In July and August, even indoors, many plants slow down and unused fertiliser accumulates as salts, adding to the mineral load already coming from hard tap water.
Use a balanced liquid feed at half strength: it is far easier to under-feed and correct than to burn roots. Slow-release granules mixed into the top of the soil in October are a low-effort alternative that lasts most of the season. Succulents, snake plants and ZZ plants need feeding only two or three times a year.
Signs you are over-feeding: white crust on the soil, brown leaf tips despite good watering, and lush but weak growth. Flush the pot with clean water for a minute and pause feeding for two months.
