# What are the best plants for a north-facing or low-light Dubai apartment?

**Short answer:** ZZ plant, snake plant, golden pothos, Chinese evergreen (aglaonema), peace lily and parlour palm are the most reliable low-light plants for Dubai apartments. They tolerate rooms lit only by a north window or by ceiling lights, cope with AC air, and need water only every two to three weeks in dim conditions.

Low light does not mean no light. A north-facing window in Dubai still gives useful bright shade; a hallway with no window gives almost nothing, and only ZZ and snake plant will hold on there long-term. If you can read comfortably without a lamp at midday, most of the plants below will grow.
Ranked by tolerance: [ZZ plant](https://heavenlyplants.ae/products/zz-plant) and [snake plant](https://heavenlyplants.ae/products/snake-plant-laurentii) first, then [Chinese evergreen](https://heavenlyplants.ae/products/chinese-evergreen) and [golden pothos](https://heavenlyplants.ae/products/golden-pothos), then [peace lily](https://heavenlyplants.ae/products/peace-lily) for flowers and the pet-safe parlour palm. Expect slower growth and plainer colour than in bright light; that is normal, not failure.
Water less in low light, since the soil stays wet longer, and rotate the pot a quarter turn weekly so growth stays even. If you want a ready-made answer, the [Low-Light Survivors set](https://heavenlyplants.ae/products/low-light-survivors-set) pairs four of these for a dim living room.
