Strawberries fruit beautifully in a UAE winter — plant October to November, pick from January. Grow them in a rail planter or hanging pot where the fruit hangs clear of the soil. Bright light, water daily, feed fortnightly once flowers appear. A seasonal plant, not a year-round one.

UAE note: A proper UAE winter crop and a reliable one — fruit from December through March on a sunny balcony. It will not survive a Gulf summer outdoors at any exposure, so treat it as an annual.
