# Elephant Bush (Portulacaria afra)

A succulent that takes clipping

- Price: AED 65 (was AED 85)
- Availability: in stock, ships same day in Dubai on orders before 1pm
- Delivered size: approx. 35-50 cm tall · 20 cm pot (estimate)
- Botanical name: Portulacaria afra
- Pet safety: non-toxic to cats and dogs (ASPCA)

Thick red stems and small round jade-green leaves on a succulent that behaves like a shrub — it clips into shape, trails over a pot edge, or grows on as a 1.5m bush. Near-zero water, and genuinely non-toxic to cats and dogs, which almost no other succulent of this size is. Indoors in bright light or outdoors in sun to part shade. Water every 2-3 weeks; overwatering is the only way to lose it.

## Care in UAE conditions

- Watering: Every 2-3 weeks indoors, every 10-14 days outdoors in summer
- Light: Bright indirect indoors, or full sun to part shade outdoors
- Temperature: 10-45°C. Comfortable in an AC room
- Humidity: Low humidity is ideal. Never mist
- Soil: Cactus or succulent mix with added grit
- Feeding: Diluted feed twice a year, spring and autumn only

UAE note: Rare combination here: a shrub-sized succulent that is genuinely non-toxic to cats and dogs, tolerates AC air, and clips into shape like a hedge plant.
