# Gardenia (Cape Jasmine)

Heavy white perfume, glossy leaves

- Price: AED 79 (was AED 105)
- Availability: in stock, ships same day in Dubai on orders before 1pm
- Delivered size: approx. 45-60 cm tall · 20 cm pot (estimate)
- Botanical name: Gardenia jasminoides
- Pet safety: not pet-safe — Gardenoside in the fruit and foliage — vomiting and diarrhoea in cats and dogs.

Gardenia jasminoides carries thick white double flowers with one of the strongest scents of any garden plant. It is the fussiest shrub in this collection and worth it: it wants bright light out of harsh afternoon sun, acidic feed, and water that never dries out completely. Best on a shaded east-facing balcony.

UAE note: The hardest plant we sell to keep here, and we would rather say so than sell you two. Gardenias need acidic soil; UAE tap water is hard and alkaline, so leaves go yellow with green veins within months unless you water with filtered or RO water and feed an acidifying fertiliser.
