Jasminum sambac — the jasmine of Gulf gardens and the UAE's own favourite scent, flowering white and fragrant from spring to autumn. Grow it outdoors in a pot by a majlis door or seating area where the evening perfume collects. Bright light, water every 1–2 days in summer, feed monthly.

UAE note: Full, the local jasmine — this is the one grown in Gulf courtyards, and the scent peaks after sunset in exactly the months the balcony is usable. Unlike most scented plants it actually likes the heat.
