# Romance & Scented

Scented plants need more light than foliage plants — fragrance comes from flowers, and flowers need sun. Arabian jasmine (Sambac), the UAE's most-loved scented plant, flowers on a bright balcony or windowsill; lavender and eucalyptus want the brightest spot you have. Indoors in deep shade they survive but stop flowering.

Very well — Jasminum sambac is suited to the Gulf climate and flowers repeatedly through the warm months. Give it 4–6 hours of sun (a balcony or bright window), water when the top few centimetres dry, and expect it to pause in the peak of summer and again in cool January nights.

### Which scented plants work in a bedroom with AC?

Jasmine and orchids handle AC best among the scented range, provided they sit by a bright window. Lavender rarely thrives in a cooled, low-light bedroom — keep it on a sunny balcony and bring cut stems indoors instead.
